A professional and safe treatment at an affordable price
Through a careful skin and hair analysis before the first treatment and the resulting individual adjustments of the treatment device to your individual needs.
No more ingrown hairs or nasty shaving marks
The ingrown hairs are significantly softer and finer and grow in noticeably less or not at all.
Great and visible results after the 1st treatment
Already after the first treatment a significantly slower hair growth and a noticeable hair reduction can be noticed.
No problems for tanned skins
With this method, permanent hair removal is possible with little contrast between skin and hair colour.
What clients say?
Pre-treatment care
Shave
The areas of the body to be treated must be shaved for the last time before the treatment in such a way that on the day of the treatment, 1mm short hair stubble is visible above the skin. At the start of the treatment series, this usually occurs after 1-2 days. Later on, significantly more days are needed as the hair grows much more slowly.
No epilation
The hairs must still have their roots in order to be successfully treated. Starting 4-6 weeks before the treatment, avoid waxing, sugaring, depilatory creams, epilation, and tweezing, etc.
Clean skin
Immediately before the treatment, the areas of skin to be treated should be free from oils, creams, or other beauty products. A superficial cleaning can also be performed on-site before the treatment.
Sunbathing
No extensive/intensive sunbathing should be done 7 days before the treatment. Red or sunburned skin cannot be treated with the laser, and the treatment will need to be postponed.
Hair removal procedure
First consultation
During your individual first consultation we discuss the procedure of laser hair removal and ensure that the treatment is safe and effective for you.
Treatment
The body area to be treated is cleaned and coated with a cooling ultrasound gel. This gel keeps the skin cool during the treatment and optimizes the gliding of the handpiece over the skin to enable a pleasant treatment.
Protection
Laser safety goggles provided in the studio MUST be worn to protect the eyes. Our clients receive only the highest quality protective glasses from the companies laservision and formatk. After each client, the goggles are cleaned with disinfectant intended for this purpose.
Method
The treatment is performed with the High End SPARK PRO (diode laser and IPL) by the company formatk. It is the best choice when it comes to efficient and permanent hair removal. Read more about the procedure under Theory & Technique.
After the treatment
After the treatment, everyday life can be continued without problems. Desirable indications such as possible perifollicular (surrounding the hair) edema (water retention) or erythema (redness) usually disappear after a few minutes to 2-3 days.
Sun
Sunbathing and tanning bed visits should be avoided for 7 days after the treatment to prevent potential skin irritation. If sun exposure cannot be avoided (e.g., during vacation), the treated area should be protected with SPF 50 sunscreen to ensure proper sun protection. However, prolonged sunbathing should still be avoided.
After the treatment
During the first 14 days
After 10-14 days the hair sclerosed at the root falls out.
After two weeks
There shouldn’t be noticeable hair growth for 1-2 weeks and no shaving should be necessary during this time.
Next treatment
Once the usual hair growth has returned it is time for the next treatment. Depending on the treated area this is between 4-12 weeks.
Theory and technique
The principle of laser hair removal
A diode laser is the best choice for permanent and efficient hair removal of thick black to light brown hair. For lighter hair, which is less responsive to infrared light, we rely on our powerful IPL lasers to reduce finer and lighter hair growth. Unlike IPL-SHR, home devices, and other low-power diode lasers that often only damage the hair follicle without fully destroying it, our laser guarantees an effective and lasting treatment.
The goal of light-based hair removal is to damage the hair papilla and its nutrient supply so that it ceases activity, thereby halting hair growth permanently. At temperatures between 60°C and 70°C, the protein structures in the hair roots denature, and the finest supply channels (capillaries) of the follicle, along with the cells responsible for hair growth (stem cells), are destroyed.
Light with wavelengths between 400 and 1000 nm is nearly „transparent“ to the skin, while only color pigments (melanin and hemoglobin) absorb the light energy in this range and convert it into heat (selective photothermolysis). Melanin is produced in the hair follicle and is concentrated there. This allows the hair follicle to be selectively heated by a very short but high-energy light pulse without affecting the surrounding skin tissue (which contains less pigment).
The SPARK PRO (diode laser and IPL) from formatk is one of the most powerful lasers for permanent hair removal. It is clinically tested, holds the highest certifications (FDA approval, medical CE certification), and meets all the important criteria a good laser must have. This ensures you can rely on scientific accuracy and clinically proven results.
Light pulse technology
The light pulse technology used in laser epilation depends on the individual hair growth cycle. This cycle is divided into three phases that repeat continuously. Only hair in the active growth phase can be treated and thus permanently destroyed. The hair cycle is asynchronous, meaning not all hairs are in the same phase at the same time. Approximately 15-20% of our hairs are in the desired active growth phase at any given moment.
Hairs in the transitional or resting phase cannot be treated. Therefore, it is necessary to repeat the treatment multiple times. On average, 10 treatments spaced 4 to 12 weeks apart are required. The more frequently an area is treated, the longer the interval between treatments becomes.
A 100% hair removal guarantee can never be given or promised. Some hairs will remain, regardless of the method used. However, these remaining hairs are typically very thin, light, and barely noticeable.
Hair removal of light-colored hair using light epilation (light pulse technology such as diode laser and IPL) is always a delicate matter. Since light-colored hair contains less melanin (the pigment), less heat is generated in the follicle, often resulting in the follicle being damaged rather than destroyed. Light hair is usually more successfully treated with IPL. However, it is important to know that a strong IPL device is needed to achieve good results. Here at atelier sandgold, we have been offering high-quality IPL treatments since March 2024.
Another method for removing light, red, gray, or white hair is needle epilation. Although this method is a bit more time-consuming, it is very effective and a great option when laser treatments are ineffective due to the lack of melanin pigment. Starting in early 2025, we will also offer this method at atelier sandgold.
We recommend a consultation to determine the best method for you and how we can assist you further. If desired, nothing stands in the way of a first session. However, if no visible results occur after this initial session, it may be wiser to save your money and invest it elsewhere. 😉
Growth phase
Transition phase
Resting phase
In general, there is a distinction between „permanent“ and „long-lasting“ hair removal. „Long-lasting“ refers to a specific period, while „permanent“ implies a final, irreversible outcome. This is important to understand because, even after a successful treatment, so-called „dormant hairs“ can occasionally appear. Everyone has dormant hairs, and these can be activated at any time due to the hormonal cycle, which is connected to the hair growth cycle. It is normal for new hair to grow back during hormonal changes.
To remove these new hairs, it is recommended to have 1-3 touch-up treatments per year to maintain the desired results.
